Wrist pain occurs due to its overuse in different activities, i.e. writing, texting, typing and weight lifting. It is an important cause as many activities which are performed repeatedly lead to tearing or overstretching of ligament of the wrists.

Carpel Tunnel syndrome:

Physical impacts:

Any object that hit the hand or falling over the wrist cause swelling, redness, numbness, bony subluxations or even fractures.

Arthritis:

Osteoarthritis is usually uncommon in the wrist joints but rheumatoid arthritis may cause tendon or joint swellings, inflammation, severe pain and stiffness.
